This is your Friday update for the 300\400 block of N Washington Streetscape Project. We are down to the final items of the project which are the placing of the original streetlights back on their new foundations. That work was started yesterday and continued today. The crew will return next week to continue with the wiring connections, bulb installations and overall testing of the fixtures. As we get the end of the project the next step is to complete a thorough walkthrough with the design engineer, the accessibility inspector from the State and myself. This will occur next week and creates the punchlist for the contractor to address. Once that is complete the project will be deemed substantially complete and the Council will consider accepting the project and releasing the collected retainage which makes the project officially completed. That Council action is expected to occur as soon as September 26th but most likely the first meeting in October. Eric G. Welcome to another Friday Update! This is your Friday update for the 300\400 block of N Washington Streetscape and as we can all see the project is getting very close to completion. Work completed this week was the crosswalks and handicap parking spaces were painted, additional brick pavers were installed, and the electrician continued to pull wires and get the foundations ready for the decorative street lights. Activities coming up next week: * Planting of the trees on the 400 block * Placing the remaining benches, trash receptacles and planters * Start of sweeping\cleaning of the overall project area There will be no activity on Monday as it is a City holiday. There may be one more full day of street closure occurring within the next two weeks to allow the contractor to thoroughly sweep the roadway on both blocks and I will send out an email as soon as I know what date so that you all can plan accordingly. The design engineer and I will be starting our punchlist walkthrough sometime next week to begin the close-out phase of the project. I did get an update from the Contractor and their plan is to prep the area in front of your building tomorrow (Tuesday) with a concrete pour for both the east and west side on Wednesday which will effectively finish all the sidewalk on the 300 block. You would need to have your forms removed no later than first thing tomorrow morning to allow for that work. Eric G. Welcome to another Friday update for the Streetscape Project on the 300\400 blocks of N Washington. Additional progress has been made since my last update including the pouring of sidewalk on the west side of the 400 block as well as forming and pouring of curb and gutter at the intersection of Rusk and 300 block of N Washington. Also the asphalt placement along the new curb and gutter was completed today along the west side of the 400 block. The look ahead for next week is as follows: * Continue forming for sidewalk along the south end of the 300 block of N Washington for a scheduled pour of Wednesday (Thursday as a backup). * Forming and prepping along the west side of the 400 block to complete the remaining sidewalk portions. * Prepping and forming the tree wells and light pole foundations on the west side of the 400 block. The Contractor plans to close the 300 block to all through traffic starting Monday morning in preparation of concrete work the first half of the week. As always this schedule is weather dependent. The general contractor has indicated to the City that he will be moving to the east side of the 300 block of N Washington at the corner of Rusk St to begin to begin the remaining concrete work (curb and gutter, sidewalk, etc.) starting tomorrow (7\31\2024). This will result in the 300 block being closed to through traffic like it had prior but the sidewalks will be open for any visitors to those storefronts. Work will begin with curb an gutter and then move on to sidewalk and then tree wells and light pole foundations. The 400 block of N Washington will be opened to through traffic and parking starting tomorrow. Eric G. Welcome to another Friday update on the downtown streetscape project. More progress has been made on the 400 block of N Washington with completion of sidewalk on the east side. Curb and gutter is approximately ¾ finished on the west side except for the island bump-out at HWY80 and the inlet box. Next week look ahead: · Finish curb and gutter pour at the inlet box and bump out island at HWY80 on the west side of the 400 block. · Begin forming and pouring of sidewalk from south to north on the west side of the 400 block. As always the schedule is weather dependent and next week has the Fourth of July holiday in it as well which will effect overall output. This is the Friday update on a Thursday afternoon for the downtown streetscape project. The contractor has made additional progress on the 400 block with curb and gutter poured this week and forming for sidewalk pour for tomorrow. Some things to look ahead for next week: 1. Continue forming for sidewalks on the east side of the 400 block 2. Possibly complete pouring of sidewalks on east side 3. Start forming for curb and gutter on the west side 4. Possible pouring of curb and gutter on west side I know some of you have asked questions about the small areas on the 300 block that remain unfinished. Both of those property owners have some minor work to complete as well as resolution of some outstanding items with the general contractor. Once I receive the all clear from everyone the contractor will return the crews to those locations to complete the remaining work. As always the schedule is weather dependent and next week has the Fourth of July holiday in it as well which will effect overall output. Also trees have been planted and some benches and garbage receptacles have been placed on the 300 block of N Washington. This is a quick update on the project as I have just heard from the contractor that the concrete subcontractor will begin caulking the expansion joints and saw-cuts on the completed sidewalk as early as tomorrow. This material is extremely tacky until it cures so we are asking anyone who walks through the area to be mindful to not step on it. The curing takes time depending on weather and temperature. Also if you have any of your items or materials on the new sidewalk please try to remove them from the work areas so that the crews can install the caulking and sealant. This is your latest Friday update but it is on a Monday this week as I was out of the office last Friday (May 3). Another strong week with most of the sidewalk concrete poured and finished leaving two areas (one on each side of the 300 block) open while those outstanding issues get resolved. A look ahead for this week: * Work should begin on the tree wells and streetlight foundations * Remaining brick paver areas should get the concrete poured * Asphalt repairs along the new curb and gutter may start towards the end of the week * Brick likely to begin to be delivered towards the end of the week All of this activity is obviously weather permitting as we have seen rain and\or showers every week on and off for the past month. Once all the asphalt work along the curb and gutters is complete and the area given a thorough sweeping of all the dirt and debris the contractor is likely to begin demolition work on the 400 block the week of May 13 (probably mid weed as of this email). Work will still be going on in the 300 block with the placement of the brick pavers but this activity only requires the closing of a handful of parking spaces not the entire road. Significant progress was made this week with the completion of the curb and gutter on the west side, additional sidewalk sections poured on the east and west sides, and some overall cleanup along the east side. Another week has gone by and we have seen some significant progress on the project with the pouring of concrete sidewalks on the east side as well as curb and gutter from the southwest corner to the north about 120 feet or so on the west side. Tentative plans for next week: * Continue pouring of sidewalk on the west side starting at the southwest corner ( I will try to get a definitive day and provide an update so store owners can plan for it) * Pouring of additional concrete on the eastside to the next expansion joint (just north of the radio station) * More curb and gutter on the west side moving north. * General site cleanup As a reminder once concrete pouring has begun in front of your place of business you must remain off of it for 48 hours (for example if concrete pouring has begun on Tuesday at 9:00am you cannot walk on it until Thursday at 9:00am). This allows for the top surface of the concrete to properly cure so as not to cause any deformations or issues with the finish. Eric Powell stood in my office 308 N. Washington and watched it April 10th waiting on pump trucks to arrive. I just spoke to contractor 10:30 about dirt being on my newly replaced boards on the front of my office having dirt on them. Told him i was told there would be a barrier between dirt and my boards. We shall see. I have pics of all the water going under my building. Yes this was after we wouldn’t let it go. Additionally they never arrived if I remember correctly. Your buildings incorrectly became the drainage for the entire block. After a brief conversation with the General Contractor I have an update on the pouring of concrete on the east side of the 300 block of N Washington. 1. There is a good chance that concrete will be poured starting tomorrow from the corner of E Burleson down to the Trophy store door. 2. Additional concrete will be poured starting on Thursday from the Trophy store south to just before the Radio Station 3. The remaining concrete to be poured on Friday most likely are the paver strip concrete as well as curb and gutter on the west side starting at E Burleson. Obviously this will effect certain store operation and hours once the concrete is poured as it needs at a minimum 24-hours before it can be walked on. This is good news as we all try to get this project moving forward. As always this schedule is weather and concrete plant dependent. Eric G. Good day everyone and welcome to another Friday update on the Streetscape Project on N Washington. While there was more positive work happening this week we did hit a snag mid-week due to the fittings for the stormwater piping not being delivered when expected. The crews did return on Thursday to continue backfilling the stormwater pipe on the west side and opening up some pathways to the storefronts. The same crew also began tieing in the roof drains and should have the complete early next week. As far as the look ahead for next week this is what might occur: * Crew will complete all tie ins of roof drains and setting the junction box in the northwest corner and complete backfilling * Electrical conduit will be continued on the east side * Sidewalk crew will begin pouring sidewalk sections starting a the northeast corner at Burleson and move south As always I think you for your continued patience with this project and I will do everything I can to address all concerns. As far as next week's update I may not provide one as I will be at a water\wastewater conference in Ft. Worth. Please don't hesitate to send me an email with any concern's or questions you have. Welcome to another Friday update on the Streetscape Project on N Washington however this one is on Thursday as City offices are closed tomorrow for Good Friday. Overall another positive week where we saw the completion of the two inlet boxes (forms will be stripped on Monday), additional curb and gutter formwork and concrete installed including the radius on the northeast corner, and the stormwater pipe showed up early so crews were able to begin the installation on the southwest corner heading north. One correction from last week's update there was no sidewalk poured as the electrician had not had the chance to install conduits on the east side yet. A look ahead to next week: * Crews will continue to form curb and gutter going south which will include the radius on the southeast corner. * Electricians will be onsite to begin installing the electrical conduit on the east and west sides * Installation of the stormwater pipe will continue on the west side going north. * Pouring of more curb and gutter with a slight chance of sidewalks by weeks end (depends on electrical conduit progress). Weather looks to be friendly over the next week which means continued positive motion. Welcome to another Friday update on the Streetscape Project on N Washington. This past week was a busy one compared to previous weeks as we saw curbing get poured along the east side, work on the two inlet boxes, and forms placed for the sidewalk at the northeast end. A look ahead next week will include the following, all weather permitting: * Sidewalks will begin to be poured during the week and all affected business will be notified of the day so they can plan accordingly * Additional concrete will be poured for the lids for the two inlet boxes. * Layout work for the replacement of the old stormwater pipe on the west side and there is a slight chance the new pipe will arrive before the end of the week. As always any unforeseen issues that come and\or changes in weather can have an effect on this schedule but it looks like we had a positive outcome this past week and look forward to more weeks like it. As per our discussion, I compiled notes from the block meeting held on Monday, February 26, 2024, as you were out of town. Below are the key points discussed: 1. Signs are being prepared to inform the public that businesses remain open and accessible via the street. This arose due to the current construction signs blocking the street, instructing people to check in at a non-existent 'construction office.' 2. KMHT offered to promote the open status of businesses during the construction phase. I proposed that they specifically mention the affected businesses to provide them with targeted additional advertising support. 3. Lighting options for businesses operating after dark were deliberated upon. 4. Points of contact were identified, with Carl serving as the primary contact, employed by Casey Sloan. It was noted that Casey Sloan reports to Eric Powell. 5. Delays were attributed to 'Unique Issues': a) A city council review was scheduled for March 7th, 2024, for approval to replace storm drains on the west side of the street, which were not initially planned. b) “305 Brick veneer laid on top of sidewalks vs. footings, brick collapsed when sidewalk was removed.” i. Eric Powell advised they were obtaining an Engineer to provide plans for the correct repair method and then providing those plans to the CTR to obtain a price to have the repairs completed. 6. The owner of Paramount Theater reported damage to their sign caused by the construction crews."

This is the Friday update for the 300\400 block Of N Washington Streetscape project: Previous week: * City crews were scheduled to isolate the water main on the morning of Wednesday March 6 to remove the old hydrant and reset it in the new location. However during the valve exercising on Monday it was determined that the operating nut at the valve in the intersection of Rusk and N Washington was not functioning. The work has been rescheduled for Sunday morning March 11th to try to limit the impact. * Formwork for the sidewalks has begun at the intersection of Burleson and N Washington in order for the relocation of the hydrant. Next week look ahead: * Change order for the replacement of the storm pipe on the west side of 300 block was approved by Council on March 7th. * Contractor will begin the layout next week and procure the pipe and materials. * Forming for sidewalks will continue on the east side weather permitting. * Work on the new inlet box at the northeast corner of the eastside block will continue.
